JASA offers the benefits of a large agency, with a well established infrastructure, that supports local community based service delivery. JASA provides social work, recreational, health, home care, housing, cultural, and educational programs for tens of thousands of older adults every year. Since its founding 45 years ago, JASA's purpose has been to identify and respond to frail, poor, isolated older adults regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity, to help sustain them in their homes and communities and to offer opportunities for an enriched quality of life. The dedicated and skilled staff, many of whom live in the neighborhoods where they work and speak the languages of the seniors they work with, are a rich resource for carrying out JASA's mission. With more than 50 locations, JASA has a well-established citywide presence and is a trusted resource within the local neighborhoods of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Long Island.
Since its founding 32 years ago, One Stop has assisted over 60,000 seniors live safely and independently in their own homes by providing legal, care management, housing, elder abuse, advocacy, and general assistance services. To honor both One Stop’s proud history and its new membership in the JASA family, we will provide services under the combined name “One Stop at JASA.”
JASA and One Stop have, and will continue to be, integral parts of the safety net for low income seniors – from the "well elderly" to the frailest. Public policy decisions at the federal, state, and local levels are revolutionizing the service choices facing seniors and the service delivery and business demands facing senior service providers. This changing landscape provides a new range of risks and opportunities for us. We are working diligently to meet these challenges successfully by understanding the market developments and identifying potential partners with shared values and approaches to supporting seniors' needs.
